The root word of “community” is “unity.” So unless a community works together, it will cease to exist.
At Minaya Learning Global Solutions, we enjoy and understand the responsibility of giving back to our community. Our employees are encouraged to donate their time and resources to help numerous organizations and individuals locally, nationally and abroad.
Our partnership with the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce represents one of the most important local connections we’ve made. We helped the Chamber craft a three-year strategic plan designed to retain and attract members through programs that foster business development and networking.
In other words, it’s a partnership that helps the Chamber fulfill its mission for more unity and collaboration in our community.
The strategic plan was put into place in 2016, and as we enter the final year of the plan, the Chamber’s Board and Staff have already accomplished most of their goals, including strengthening the education focus in line with the Chamber’s mission.
“We selected the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce because they are the education chamber, and that resonated with us as a corporate learning services company,” CEO and Chief Learning Officer Dr. Guido A. Minaya says. “We see it is as a critical organization for our business community.”
In collaboration with Dr. Glenn Whitehouse, interns from Florida Gulf Coast University’s PAGES Program helped develop and implement a Chamber Membership Survey and identify what members are seeking. Their work not only aided the Chamber but gave the interns valuable exposure that led to job placement.
It’s another example of how working together leads to mutual benefit.
“It was very helpful for them to be involved in a Chamber project and get to know how it’s such an important organization for small business in a local community,” Minaya says. “The interns were able to showcase their talents in front of the Board and Chamber members.”
Minaya Global Learning Solutions continues to seek opportunities like this that are a win for all involved. We find parallels in developing a client’s workforce and in helping trusted community nonprofits build capacity to deliver much-needed services.
“Our company at its core is about developing talent, developing people through learning, training and education,” Minaya says. “We also understand as a community member that if our community is strong, then all of us benefit.”
We are honored to give back as a company to the Chamber and these well-established Southwest Florida nonprofits:
- The School District of Lee County
